Waste Worker To Face Embezzlement Charge

A woman who worked at a solid waste facility that belongs to two Vermont towns is facing federal charges she embezzled $173,000 over five years.

Tonya Drury worked as a cashier at the Bethel/Royalton Solid Waste Facility, and is accused of misappropriating cash payments and altering records to hide her actions.

The facility is owned by the towns of Bethel and Royalton, but is managed by Bethel.

Drury is due in federal court in Burlington today to answer the charge.
