Opponents of a proposed Wal-Mart store in Saint Albans have withdrawn from hearings on the project.
Members of Northwest Citizens for Responsible Growth say they believe the town’s Development Review Board is stacked against them.
And they say they don’t believe the board has tried to address their concerns.
Members of the board and other community leaders say they believe they’ve given everyone a fair hearing.
There have been complaints in the past about conflicts of interest among town officials reviewing Wal-Mart’s plan to build.
The last time, the hearings were scrapped and reorganized when there were complaints about bias.
The opponents say they’ll no longer appear at hearings but will submit written testimony.
