A 72-year-old Vermont woman whose wheelchair was stolen from her daughter’s car at a Massachusetts mall is appealing to common decency during the holiday season for the thief to return her lifeline.
Lucille Riccio of Wilmington, Vt., tells The Republican of Springfield the $1,000 chair, which she got in April and hasn’t finished paying for, is the only way she can leave her home.
She’s hoping whoever took the chair has a change of heart and returns it. She says she can’t afford a new one and her daughter’s car insurance won’t pay for a replacement.
The wheelchair was stolen from her daughter’s car while she was shopping at the Holyoke Mall on Dec. 16.
Police Capt. Arthur Monfette says there are no suspects.
