VT Warns Of Lead In Certain Drinking Glasses

Vermont Attorney General William Sorrell says to be on guard about decorative drinking glasses showing Gone With the Wind and Elvis Presley because some of them have lead in the painted illustrations.

The products, imported from the Far East by Salt Lake City-based Vandor LLC, contain lead concentrations of up to 81 times the state limit for children of 100 parts per million.

Lead is highly toxic, and ingesting it is dangerous. Even small amounts, over time, can cause neurological damage.

Sorrell says Vermonters should avoid buying or using the glasses, which have the Vandor name on the label.

The ones in question show images representing the movie "Gone With the Wind" and Elvis Presley’s "All Shook Up," "Heartbreak Hotel," "Love Me Tender" and "Burning Love."
