Towns that were hit by flood damage in July and August are eligible for federal help to pay to repair the damage.

Seven Vermont counties may now seek disaster relief from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Federal funds will help rebuild roads and bridges and help remove flood debris in Addison, Caledonia, Essex, Lamoille, Orange, Washington and Windsor counties.

Much of the clean-up work has been completed, but communities will be able to recoup 75 percent of their recovery costs, including overtime paid to municipal workers.

Money is also being made available in all of Vermont’s 14 counties to reduce long-term risks from natural hazards.
