(Barasch) (gavel bangs) "The meeting will come to order… The legal voters of the town of Plainfield are here by notified and warned to meet at the Plainfield Town Hall on Tuesday, the first day of March 2011."

(Host) Like town moderators across the state, Plainfield’s Charles Barasch called his town meeting to order this morning.

Voters in cities and towns all over Vermont are deciding municipal and school budgets and a range of other issues.

In Plainfield, voters are filling an open seat on the Select Board, deciding on zoning regulations and adopting budgets.

Rutland voters will decide the fate of a bond issue that would pay for a new city recreation center. In Stowe, a bond would pay for a new ice arena.

Burlington’s ballot includes a proposed four-cent increase in the tax rate, and a question about whether mayors should be required to capture 50 percent of the vote to win election.
