(Host) The boards of six southwestern Vermont school districts have imposed a retroactive contract on teachers for the fiscal year ending June 30.
The contract imposed by the boards of the Bennington School District, Mount Anthony Union, Southwest Vermont Regional Technical School, North Bennington, Pownal and Shaftsbury took effect after yesterday’s vote.
The decision leaves the teachers in the Southwest Vermont Supervisory Union with the option of striking or returning to the negotiating table to seek an agreement for the next school year.
Board member Raymond Mullineaux says the teachers rejected the boards’ last best offer on June 6.
The Bennington Banner says the imposed contract includes smaller pay increases than the contract the teachers had been working under.
