The Vermont Department of Labor says the state’s unemployment rate ticked up one-half of 1 percent in December to 6.9 percent

The December rate is 1 percent above the rate of December 2008.

Labor Commissioner Patricia Moulton Powden says all labor market indicators were down last month.

Moulton Powden says that since job levels and unemployment rates had been stable for several months now, officials will have to wait and see if December was an anomaly.

Unemployment rates last month for the state’s 17 labor market areas ranged from 4 percent in Hartford to 9.2 percent in Newport.
