With the November election a little more than two weeks away, speculation is heating up in Vermont about who will win the governor’s and lieutenant governor’s races as the candidates themselves push hard to gain extra votes in the waning days of the campaign season.

To get a little more perspective on where voters stand at this crucial point, VPR commissioned a poll looking at all the statewide races and gauging voters’ priorities on many of the key issues facing the state.

This morning VPR released results of the poll that show Republican Brian Dubie and Democrat Peter Shumlin in a statistical dead heat in the governor’s race: 44% to 43%.

Chris Graff is a political analyst who served as the longtime Vermont bureau chief of the Associated Press. Brad Coker is Managing Director of Mason-Dixon Polling & Research, in Washington DC, which conducted the VPR Vermont Poll.

They talked with VPR’s Jane Lindholm about the poll results.
