Vermont lawmakers are preparing to gather for the start of their 2013 session this week.

Expected issues include physician assisted death, marijuana decriminalization, and how to address a projected shortfall of $50 million to $70 million in the fiscal 2014 budget.

Activities begin Wednesday with both the House and Senate convening at 10 a.m. to elect their top officers, the House clerk and the Senate secretary.

On Thursday, lawmakers gather in joint assembly to see Gov. Peter Shumlin and other statewide elected officials sworn in, followed by the governor’s second inaugural address.
