Vermont has been awarded federal funding to better use online resources during disasters like Tropical Storm Irene.
Sen. Patrick Leahy and the Vermont Council on Rural Development will announce the Economic Development Administration award today.
The VCRD applied for the grant.
The money will help businesses, farms, towns and nonprofits use online capabilities and broadband internet service for economic recovery and to strengthen their resistance to disasters like Irene.
