VT Environmental Group Say Wind Power Hurting Bats

A Vermont environmental group is urging that wind power development be stopped in the state to help save bats.

The state is drafting new rules for the protection of bats in light of the epidemic that’s been decimating bat populations in Vermont and elsewhere in the eastern and southern United States.

Vermonters for a Clean Environment is responding to that request for comment by raising concerns about the potential for bat fatalities from wind turbines.

The group says the state needs to address the steep decline in bat populations in part by reconsidering its agreements with wind power developers.
