Is racism unintentional or institutional in Vermont? Ninety seven percent of the population is white, and less than 1% is African American. Sherwood Smith is a lecturer at UVM and the director of the school’s Center for Cultural Pluralism.  Shirley Boyd Hill serves on the Vermont Human Rights Commission.  They spoke with VPR’s Jane Lindholm about racism in our region and whether it is an issue that is discussed enough.
