About six months a group of volunteers in the Upper Valley began thinking about what they could do to help out in an emergency.  They’ve formed a Medical Reserve Corps that could step in and assist other emergency workers in cases of a natural disaster or a medical outbreak, such as one related to the H1N1 pandemic.  Medical Reserve Corps aren’t a new or unique thing.

They’ve formed all over the country, and they’re overseen by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.  Tig Tillinghast is one of the board members of the Upper Valley Medical Reserve Corps, and he spoke with VPR’s Jane Lindholm about their work.
