The advent of easy-to-use cleated snowshoes and a hunger for evidence of species other than our own has made wildlife watching a popular winter pastime. People sign up in droves for workshops at nature centers and resorts or set out on their own. Lynn Levine has led tracking workshops at ski resorts and nature centers. She also works as a consulting forester and is the co-author of Mammal Tracks and Scat. Ted Levin is an award winning nature writer and naturalist. He’s the author of Backtracking: the Way of the Naturalist, among other books. They spoke with VPR’s Jane Lindholm about winter tracking.
