For years there’s been talk of instituting instant runoff voting for some statewide offices in Vermont. Supporters say it’s a more accurate reflection of voters wishes. Opponents say it’s confusing, cumbersome and unconstitutional in some cases. Representative Chris Pearson is a Burlington Progressive who supports IRV. Senator. Kevin Mullin is a Rutland County Republican who voted against the Senate IRV bill. They spoke with VPR’s Steve Zind about the pros and cons of using instant runoff voting in Vermont.
