VT Edition: Hunting In Vermont

Print More

Hunting is a way of life for many in our region.  Bow and arrow seasons for deer and turkeys are already underway, and so are the seasons for black bear and moose.  What does hunting say about our rural heritage?  How has it influenced environmental conservation.  How have our attitudes about  hunting changed over time?

VPR’s Jane Lindholm talks with Drew University anthropologist Marc Boglioli, author of A Matter of Life and Death:  Hunting in Contemporary Vermont, and former Burlington Free Press Outdoors editor Matt Crawford, who now works for Pale Morning Media, which specializes in the outdoors industry about the tradition and culture of hunting in Vermont.
