Every year during Black History Month, singers, musicians, and performers from all across Vermont get together on one day to sing gospel music. The event is called GospelFest. This year’s concert will be this Sunday at Burlington’s Flynn Center for the Performing Arts. More than 150 performers are part of the 20th anniversary celebration. Evelyn Kwanza is a longtime performer and musician at GospelFest and now the assistant music director of Gospelfest and director of the children’s choir. She spoke with VPR’s Jane lindholm about the event.
