Gesine Bullock Prado was a Hollywood executive with a secret penchant for baking. So she gave up the fast life, moved to Vermont, and opened her own bakery in Montpelier.
She’s just published a memoir about her love of flour, eggs and sugar. It’s called "Confections of a Closet Master Baker.
Recipes are tucked into several of the essays in this book. Bullock-Prado says she wanted to make a clear departure from many other memoirs about food that include recipes.
She spoke with VPR’s Jane Lindholm about her book.
