After getting complaints from workers about a shortage of parking, the union representing Vermont state employees is holding a meeting at the Statehouse to discuss the issue.

The parking town hall will be held Tuesday in the House chamber.

In addition to employee representatives, Buildings Commissioner Michael Obuchowski and Montpelier Mayor John Hollar are scheduled to speak.

VSEA President John Reese says the lack of adequate parking in Montpelier affects state employees’ ability to deliver services to Vermonters.

He says construction projects, the closing of a parking garage and an influx of displaced Waterbury workers to Montpelier has made the parking problem worse.
