A block of four homes in Jamaica that were washed away in Tropical Storm Irene may NOT qualify for a FEMA buyout. The news comes as a shock to the four displaced homeowners, who’ve been waiting more than a year for the program to come through. VPR’s Susan Keese has the story. Two people are dead and 19 injured following an explosion at a pharmaceutical plant in Sherbrooke, Quebec yesterday afternoon. Vermont’s Public Service Board is hearing some supportive testimony about the Vermont Yankee nuclear plant.
