Around 150 volunteers marked the anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks in true Vermont fashion Tuesday. They helped cut, stack and deliver firewood to needy families in Lamoille County.

Students from the Green Mountain Technology and Career Center and Peoples Academy joined adults of all ages to commemorate the National Day of Community Service.

Dan Noyes is program coordinator for RSVP and the Volunteer Center, in Morrisville. He said the effort was a way for the community to come together and help their neighbors make it through the winter ahead.

Volunteers delivered more than 70 cords of donated wood and stacked another 20 cords to dry for next year.
