(Host) The Vermont Institute of Natural Science — better knows as VINS — will dedicate their Quechee campus in honor of Senator Jim Jeffords and his wife Liz this weekend.

VINS President John Dolan says without the Jeffords, the center would not be a reality.

(Dolan) "It wouldn’t exist without the efforts of Senator Jeffords and the long term support of his wife Liz. Senator Jeffords when he was in the senate was instrumental in helping VINS secure federal grants that helped fund the development of our nature center in Quechee."

(Host) Dolan says Liz Jeffords was a volunteer environmental educator for the center in the 1980’s. She’s credited with bringing VINS to the Senator’s attention.

The Jeffords Campus for Environmental Education is on a 47-acre site bordered by Quechee Gorge and the Ottauquechee River. The new campus has been in the works since 2001, and the final touches were finished just this fall.

The center will be officially dedicated on Sunday. Senator Jeffords’ former press secretary will be on hand as well as Governor Douglas.
