Vermont’s pro-basketball team switches leagues

After two American Basketball Association titles, the Vermont Frost Heaves are switching leagues.

The pro-basketball team is giving up ABA’s red, white and blue ball and embracing the more traditional orange ball of the Premier Basketball League, joining ABA northeast rival Manchester.

Frost Heaves president Alex Wolff says Vermont chose PBL partly out of its familiarity with current PBL organizations, after ruling out the Continental Basketball Association.

In its first two seasons, the Frost Heaves amassed a 71-10 ABA record.

The PLB debuted this winter with 10 teams, including former ABA champion Rochester Razorsharks, who beat the Frost Heaves twice.
