Vermont’s largest health care provider is going to change part of its name.

But officials at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington say they haven’t decided what the new name will be.

The new name will include “Fletcher Allen,” but the words “health care” will be replaced by words that more clearly communicate the hospital’s partnership with the University of Vermont.

The name Fletcher Allen Health Care was created in 1995 through a merger of the Medical Center Hospital of Vermont and the Fanny Allen Hospital in Colchester.

The main hospital in Burlington used to be called the Mary Fletcher Hospital.
