Vermont’s first wood pellet plant coming

Vermont Wood Pellet Co. will open next month in a building that once housed a wood pallet manufacturer. Katie Adams and Chris Brooks own the venture.

The pellets will be made from secondary pine logs, packaged into 40-pound bags. The owners hope to make 10,000 tons a year, and create seven jobs will be created.

The executive director of the Rutland Economic Development Corp. Jamie Stewart says the business is exactly the type Vermont wants to attract.
