Vermonters are kicking in to help pay for the Jan. 20 inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama.

Five people have contributed more than $150,000 altogether to the Presidential Inauguration Committee, which is overseeing the ceremony and parties in the nation’s capital.

Jake Carpenter, of Stowe, and Bill Stetson, of Norwich, gave $50,000 each. Their names appear on the committee’s web site, along with those of other donors.

The committee has raised more than $24 million of its $40 million goal.
