Line crews from some Vermont utilities are headed to the state of Maine to help that state cope with power outages caused by the winter storm.

More than 140,000 utility customers in Maine remained without electricity yesterday afternoon as wet, heavy snow snapped tree limbs, power lines and utility poles overnight.

The Central Vermont Public Service Corp. will be sending 10 line crews, three supervisors and three transportation mechanics to Central Maine Power to help them get the power back on.
