The Springfield Post Office will celebrate the city’s designation as "The Simpsons" hometown with the release of a postage stamp depicting the popular animated series.
The Vermont town was identified as the Springfield home of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie in a nationwide contest featuring 13 other cities of the same name.
In 2007, residents produced a video showing their enthusiasm for "The Simpsons" as part of the Hometown Movie Challenge sponsored by 20th Century Fox.
On May 7, the town’s post office will offer a ceremonial stamp cancellation. That’s the first day "The Simpsons" stamp will be available for nationwide sales.
