More federal stimulus money is rolling into Vermont, with the state set to receive nearly $5.7 million for public transportation.

Vermont’s congressional delegation announced the funding Thursday. The state Agency of Transportation Agency use $3.9 million to buy 33 buses and vans for 10 public transportation services around the state.

Another $1 million will go to the Chittenden County Transit Authority to purchase heavy-duty, low-emission buses.

And $700,000 will be used to rehabilitate buses, bus shelters, and vehicles for seniors and people with disabilities.
