The Vermont Supreme Court will hear an appeal of the murder conviction of Brian Rooney who was convicted of raping and murdering a University of Vermont student.
Rooney was sentenced in 2008 to life in prison for the aggravated murder of 21-year-old Michelle Gardner-Quinn of Arlington, Virginia, in October 2006.
The Burlington Free Press says Rooney’s lawyers argue that D-N-A evidence linking Rooney to the crime was inconclusive.
The Vermont Supreme Court has scheduled a hearing on March 17 at Vermont Law School in Royalton.
