Vermont State Colleges chancellor to retire at end of next school year

The chancellor of the Vermont State Colleges is going to retire at the of the next school year.

Robert Clarke is announcing his June 2009 retirement now to give the colleges’ board of trustees time to find his replacement.

Clarke has led the Vermont State Colleges since 1999.

Before that he was president of the Vermont Technical College for 15 years.

Clarke says the state college system is as strong as its ever been.

The state college system is made up of Castleton State College, Community College of Vermont, Johnson State College, Lyndon State College and Vermont Technical College.
