Vermont receives $8.1 million for bioterrism

Vermont will be getting $8.1 million to prepare for bioterrorism and other public health emergencies. Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson announced the funding Tuesday. The money will used to upgrade infectious disease surveillance and investigation and to improve hospitals’ preparations. Vermont’s funding is part of nearly $1.4 billion distributed nationally.
