Vermont’s minimum wage is set to go up a bit on Jan. 1, from its current level of $8.46 to $8.60 per hour.

The wage is tied to inflation and increases automatically under a state law passed several years ago.

The wage changes on Jan. 1 depending on changes in the consumer price index during the 12 months ending the previous August.

This year’s increase is a bit less than 2 percent.

Service and tipped employees, who get some of their income in for form of tips, will see their minimum wage go from its current $4.10 to $4 17.
