Vermont Medicaid ranked third best in nation

A new national study says federally supported Medicaid programs are doing a poor job around the country, but that Vermont’s is the third best in the nation.

Washington-based Public Citizen says eligibility for Medicaid services and the services that are covered vary sharply around the country.

The study found that nationwide, Medicaid paid physicians just $69 for every $100 Medicare pays for the same services.

Massachusetts was ranked tops in the country for the quality of its Medicaid programs.

Other New England states in the top ten included Rhode Island and New Hampshire.
