The Vermont Lake Monsters are going to be joined by a major leaguer for the last few games of their season.

Dmitri Young, a first baseman for the Lake Monsters’ parent club the Washington Nationals, is going to be on a rehab assignment with the Burlington team.

The team says Young will be the first major leaguer to do a rehab stint with the Lake Monsters.

Young has been on the disabled list since July 12 because of complications in controlling his diabetes.

Young was the 2007 National League Comeback Player of the Year and Washington’s representative at the 2007 All-Star Game.

Before going on the disabled list, Young was hitting .280 with four home runs in 50 games for the Nationals in 2008.
