New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine are ranked as the three safest states in an annual analysis of crime statistics.

In a report released this week, CQ Press announced its annual crime rankings comparing states based on more than 500 crime-related categories.

New Hampshire had the lowest crime rate ranking, followed by Vermont and Maine. Nevada had the highest crime rating.
