The Vermont Foodbank has received a $42,000 donation raised from the Governor’s Inaugural Ball.

Governor Jim Douglas presented the Foodbank with a check on Tuesday.

He says an increasing number of Vermonters are relying on organizations like the Foodbank during these tough economic times.

The South Barre-based nonprofit warehouses food and distributes it to food shelves and shelters around Vermont.

The Foodbank says the contribution will help it collect and distribute about 105,000 pounds of food around the state.
