All this week, VPR is observing the one-year anniversary of Tropical Storm Irene.  A number of  arts organizations were affected directly by the storm’s impact. At the Weston Playhouse, floodwaters from the West River destroyed a newly renovated orchestra pit and dressing rooms.

Revels North lost their entire costume inventory.

But the storm also had a cascading effect on the arts.

Alex Aldrich, the executive director for the Vermont Arts Council, talks about the impact of Irene on the arts community.

Original music for our Weekly Conversation and Art Hounds was written and performed by Dave Keller.
