(Host)  Vermont has won funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture that will help rural schools offer advanced classes through technology.

Twenty-one rural schools will be part of the distance learning network. The USDA is providing them with improved broadband and equipment.

This will allow students and teachers to get content from larger school districts that would otherwise not be available to them.

The projects will be centered in the South Burlington School District and the Windham Northeast Supervisory Union, and made available to other communities.

Jonathan Adelstein is a USDA representative who joins us by phone from Washington, DC.

Mr. Adelstein, can you give us a concrete example of how distance learning works?
