Thousands of students, angry over planned tuition hikes in Quebec, took to the streets last night in Montreal. They shattered windows and clashed with police. Police say 85 people were arrested, a few were taken to the hospital, and several police officers were injured.

Students have been protesting and boycotting classes since mid-February. Last night’s protest was sparked after talks between the government and student groups broke down.

We get an update from CBC Radio reporter Elias Abboud, in Montreal.
