Unsecured Propane Tanks Present Hazards

Print More

(Host) The flooding across the state has caused many propane tanks to become unsecured.

Matt Cota is the director of the Vermont Fuel Dealers Association. He says that people who see propane tanks dislodged or lying around should not try to move them.

(Cota) "All these flood waters tend to shift tanks and there’s just a half inch copper line that can move it, and it’s a real safety concern. And safety is our foremost concern."

(Host) If you smell gas, if your propane tank has become dislodged, or you see a loose tank elsewhere, the best thing to do is call your propane provider or the Vermont Fuel Dealers Association.
