University of Vermont students are not backing down in their fight to get funding restored for faculty and staff positions.

A group of about 100 students rallied yesterday, one day after protests resulted in more than 30 arrests.

At least one student called for the resignation of university president Dan Fogel. The Freshman student from Stony Brook, N.Y., said students were losing confidence in Fogel.

A university spokesman said there would be no comment on the students’ demand for Fogel to step down.

Carmyn Stanko is union president for the university’s maintenance and service workers, and says Fogel is running the university like a corporation – to the college’s detriment.
