Union workers at Vermont Yankee nuclear plant have come to terms with the plant on a new three-year contract.

A week after turning thumbs down on one contract offer, members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 300 ratified a new deal today.

About 157 of the 500 workers at the Vernon nuclear plant are represented by the union.
They were poised to go on strike Saturday until negotiators reached a deal late Friday night. That’s the one that was voted on yesterday.

Union officials aren’t saying what the vote totals were. Word of the ratification came from Vermont Yankee spokesman Larry Smith, who said the plant was told by the union that the contract was ratified in yesterday’s vote.
