Two utilities want Hydro-Quebec transmission line

MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) – Two large New England utilities want to build a new transmission line to carry electricity from Hydro-Quebec power dams in Canada to southern New England. If approved, the line would be the first to carry Hydro-Quebec power into the region without going through Vermont. Vermont officials say that even if it doesn’t go through the state, Vermont could benefit from access to more Hydro-Quebec power.
