A section of Interstate 91 has reopened after being closed for much of yesterday after a fatal crash.

Vermont State Police Lt. Jocelyn Stohl says a car was traveling south yesterday when it hit a guardrail near Rockingham and crossed two lanes of traffic and the median, colliding with an oncoming vehicle in the northbound lane.

The southbound vehicle went down an embankment and caught fire, killing both people inside. Police did not release the names of the victims yesterday, pending notification of their families.

Stohl says the driver of the other vehicle was treated for minor injuries.

Interstate 91 northbound was closed – between Exit 6 in Rockingham and Exit 7 in Springfield – for nearly several hours.
