Police are expected to release more information today about the crash that killed two young people who were in a car fleeing a South Burlington police officer.

South Burlington police say there were seven people in the car between the ages of 17 and 21 that sped away from an officer at about 2 a.m. Saturday and headed north on Spear Street.

Police say the fleeing vehicle collided head-on with another car near the intersection with Williston Road. Two occupants of the fleeing car were killed and another critically injured.

Police say there is evidence the car was leaving an underage drinking party and that alcohol and speed were factors in the crash.
