Vermont State Police say a roadway gave way beneath a 100,000-pound construction crane in Calais, causing it to topple into a ditch, trapping the driver.

The Wednesday afternoon incident in Calais was one of two construction crane incidents in Vermont on Wednesday.

Police say the driver of the crane that tipped over in Calais was extricated from the vehicle and he was flown to the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center where he was treated for minor injuries.

In the second case, a crane working at the Georgia Market on U.S. Route 7 in Georgia tipped over, with the boom striking the roof of the store. There was no word on what caused the crane to tip over.

No injuries were reported in that case.
