The man accused of killing two people and wounding two others last year in Essex is scheduled to go on trial next July.

The 28-year-old Christopher Williams has been held without bail since his arrest after the shootings that began in an Essex elementary school.

At a court hearing this week, Williams’ lawyers say they are likely to try to bar from evidence statements he made shortly after the shootings.

Williams has been held without bail since the Aug. 24, 2006 shootings.

If convicted Williams faces life in prison without parole.

Authorities say the rampage was triggered because Williams was upset that his girlfriend had broken off their relationship.
