More than 4000 thousand years ago, when Iraq was Mesopotamia, artisans in the city of Ur created dazzling works of art. Some of them are on display in a national tour called Treasures from the Royal Tombs of Ur.

The Middlebury College Museum of Art is the last stop on the tour. There are almost 200 impressive artifacts on display, from royal jewelry and ornaments, to translucent stone bowls. Recently we took our own tour of the treasures of Ur.
